Atrium Events in Dublin

Elegant and stylish, Clayton Hotel Charlemont is steeped in history, set on Irelands famous Grand Canal, with a central location accessible from all sides of Dublin City. Carefully designed to marry modern architecture with historic Dublin, our hotel is set around two 18th-Century Georgian buildings, known as 36 and 37 Charlemont Street, which have been restored to their former glory and converted into hybrid meeting rooms and luxury hotel bedrooms. Our Beautiful Georgian buildings are the proud feature of the lobby space, which link to a four-storey hotel by our stunning Atrium, which floods the entire space with natural daylight.

Take a Step Back in Time

Our unique hotel is surrounded by history and magical stories, which we have chosen to embed into Clayton Hotel Charlemont’s identity. Number 35 Charlemont Street is the birthplace of the great Irish-American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, born on the 1st of March in 1848. Saint-Gauden was famous for many extraordinary public monuments in America and for designing one of the most beautiful United States coin, The Double Eagle. Saint-Gauden was well documented in saying, “What Garlic is to salad, insanity is to art”, and after discovering this quote, the decision to name Gaudens Restaurant on-site, at Clayton Hotel Charlemont in remembrance of Saint-Gauden was made. Interlocking the buildings fascinating history with the character and charm of our hotel.

Number 37 Charlemont Street was previously known as St. Ultan’s Infant Hospital, which was the first infant hospital in Ireland, founded in 1919 by Kathleen Lynn and her long-term friend, Madeleine Ffrench-Mullen. Both women dedicated their lives to improve the living conditions of the poor. In memory of them, our executive boardrooms in our iconic Georgian buildings have been named Lynn Mullen and Saint Ultan’s.
