Insider's Guide to Shopping in Dublin

A trip to Dublin city wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of retail therapy. While the main shopping streets like Grafton Street and Henry Street are full of all the well-known high street names, there are also some other gems around the city just a short walk from Clayton Hotel Charlemont that are too good to miss. Here is a list of some of our favourite shopping hotspots around the city for when you are searching for something a little different:

Powerscourt Centre

18 minutes walk from the hotel

Located just off Grafton Street and a short walk from the hotel, the Powerscourt Centre is filled with a wide range of specialty shops, from vintage jewellers, fashion, art and interiors to florists. You can pick up some of the best in Irish fashion from the Design Centre or maybe a special piece of Irish-made jewellery from designers such as Chupi. The beautiful Georgian building also is home to some delicious restaurants so you can enjoy a pit-stop while you shop.

Westbury Mall

18 minutes walk from the hotel

Hidden just behind the flower sellers on Grafton Street, this ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ mall, is home to some up-market specialty shops. The handful of boutique shops include interiors, jewellery and clothing. Pick up some beautiful linen, wool and cashmere pieces from Stable of Ireland or Madigans, or treat yourself to a unique Irish handcrafted piece from Stonechat Jewellers.

George’s Street Arcade

20 minutes walk from the hotel

The infamous George’s Street Arcade is one of Europe’s oldest city markets. Located in a stunning Victorian red brick indoor market, the arcade is full of independent shops and stalls. Vintage hunters can enjoy a browse through the vintage clothing stalls and shops, and those on the hunt for collectibles items also won’t be disappointed. With a wonderful array of art, music, food, jewellery and clothing, George’s Street Arcade is an immersive experience for the senses!

Drury Street

20 minutes walk from the hotel

In the heart of the city, just beside George’s Street and a stone’s throw from Grafton street, you will find some great shopping on Drury Street. While it may be small, the shops that have popped up here are award-winningly mighty. Design and interior fanatics are spoiled for choice with Irish crafts from the Irish Design Shop and lifestyle store Industry & Co. Those on the hunt for fashion, enjoy statement pieces from Carousel or stunning vintage pieces from Jenny Vander. The little ones are not left out either – pick up the finest of books and illustrations in Tale’s and Tadpoles.
